          Goudberg Reserve consists of a fen with peat islands. One of the few remains of raised bog in the Netherlands. Height differences of a few meters give the area a special private atmosphere.
          The vegetation consists of mixed deciduous and coniferous forest.
          From the 1950s onwards, hundreds of hectares of heathland, with the fens located therein, were sold by Domeinen and largely reclaimed.
          Only the most infertile fens remained practically untouched.
          As a result, there are now only four fens, all located on the Strijbeekse heath.
          They are the Rondven, the Langven, the Zwart Goor and the Goudberg-ven.
          The Goudbergven is the best preserved.
