The Rheineck–Walzenhausen mountain railway, or "s'Bähnli," as it is called in Walzenhausen, is a narrow-gauge rack railway and has been part of the Appenzell Railways network since 2006. The 1.96-kilometer-long route connects Walzenhausen to Rheineck station, thus providing access to the express train public transport network.
The fact that the adventurous ride on the third-class wooden benches takes no longer than five minutes should be a welcome relief for all non-rail fanatics. The Bähnli is also popularly known as the TGV: Train a grande Vibration.

The cog railway coming from Walzenhausen ends directly at Reineck station. Trains run to Rorschach from here. (Caution: this train station is about 600 m away from the cogwheel train station at the port) Or you can walk just a few meters under the underpass to the ship landing stage and then take the "Rheineck" through the Old Rhine to Rorschach.
