The quarry at Fischerberg offers a unique insight into the geological structure of the Wolferskopf nature reserve. It shows a rock series from the upper Muschelkalk.
In contrast to the Buntsandstein, whose deposition took place on the mainland, the rocks of the mussel limestone are marine formations.
