The most striking source of the Göhl is a natural spring lake in the forest, about 300 meters north of the official Via Gulia starting point. Several small tributaries converge here, quickly joining to form a lively stream, thus symbolizing the end of the source zone.

The source area of the Geul is located at the foot of the Aachener Wald, between Köpfchen and Lichtenbusch, on the border between Germany and Belgium.
