The funicular was designed in 1939 as a means of transport for the students of the Academy of Fine Arts GB Cignaroli in Castel San Pietro and remained in operation from 1941 to 1944 until it was discontinued at the same time as the war.
Today it is fully automated and overcomes 55 meters in altitude, € 2.50 for ascent and descent.

The cable car takes you comfortably up to Castel di San Pietro. From up there you have a wonderful view over Verona. The trip there and back costs only € 2.50 (as of 2021)
