Grindleford is ideally situated for hiking in the magnificent Derwent Valley or up on the spectacular gritstone edges of the Dark Peak. From atmospheric rocky tors and superb woodland to ancient hill forts rising high above the heather, there's so much to explore. Eyam Moor sprawls to the west and Froggatt Edge looks over the village to the east.

Better still, Grindleford is just a quarter of an hour's train ride from Sheffield, or an hour from Manchester. You're immediately greeted with the legendary Grindleford Station Cafe, which is nothing short of an institution. With a number of great accommodation options and a couple of excellent pubs, this pretty Peak District village might just be the perfect base.

Perfect stop for a cup of tea and homemade cake, they also do sausage rolls and pasties and other bits and bobs, its a community shop so also sell essentials. Probably the best cake I've had in a long time...definitely worth stopping,
