To reach the Sanctuary it is preferable to follow the path in the woods which offers very interesting naturalistic and visual views. Appropriate walking boots or walking shoes are recommended for dirt roads.

The Sanctuary of Sombreno is one of the most valuable monuments in the province of Paladina (BG); dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary stands on the homonymous hill of Sombreno.
The church rises around the ancient chapel of the medieval castle of which nothing else remains. The restoration dates back to between the 17th and 19th centuries.
The church is made up of two large unified units, Santa Maria Addolorata and the Nativity of Maria Santissima.
Hanging from the ceiling of the church is a huge bone that the narrative attributes to a dragon killed thanks to the strength of faith by a foreign knight. In reality it was found to belong to a large cetacean, and not to a mammoth as previously believed
