St. Johannis is the parish church of the parish of Lassan. Since 2012 it has belonged to the priory of Demmin in the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany. It previously belonged to the Greifswald church district of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church. It is located in the city center, at the south-west end of Lassan's old town.
The oldest parts of the Johanniskirche, the drawn-in rectangular choir and the north sacristy, date from the middle of the 13th century and stand on a base made of fieldstone blocks. The east side of the choir has a round-arched group of three windows between two pointed arches. The jambs of the windows are equipped with stones glazed in alternating layers. There is an arched frieze above the group of windows. The gable of the choir has four internally articulated pointed plaster panels. The bricked-up priest's door in the south wall has a five-tiered robe.

In the first half of the 15th century, the three-nave church with three bays, the west tower and the six-sided stair tower were built. The enclosing walls of the nave have buttresses. On the east gable there are decorative screens and a gable rider from the 17th century. There is a step portal on the north and south side. The ribbed vaulting inside the church rests on octagonal pillars in the nave and on foliage consoles in the chancel. The vault and pillars of the nave were renewed in 1883.
The altarpiece is strongly structured architecturally. The sculpted figures of the four evangelists from 1727 come from the Stralsund sculptor Elias Kessler, who also made the pulpit in 1728/29. This is carried by an angel and has a bulbous basket with putti on leaf consoles. A dove on the sound cover symbolizes the Holy Spirit. ▪︎▪︎▪︎》

In the back area is the Bible quote: "The word of our God abides forever." Above an angel with the tablets of the law in the upper area is the risen Christ with the victory flag. The lectern (1727/28) on a volute base also comes from Kessler's workshop.
The octagonal metal baptismal font, a zinc cast from the Moritz Geiß workshop (Berlin), is dated between 1860 and 1880. A triumphal cross group dates from the end of the 15th century. There is also a painting with the portrait of Johann Joachim Spalding in the church. The organ with a neo-Gothic prospectus is probably an older work by Carl August Buchholz. It was installed by Grüneberg in 1832 and has 17 registers on two manuals and a pedal. In 1986 it was restored.
A tapestry hangs on the left side of the sanctuary, which the parish acquired in the 1970s and which presumably goes back to the Bauhaus student Else Mögelin. ▪︎▪︎▪︎》
