At the beginning of the 18th century, an extension was built on the watchtower of Linzenshäuschen as an inn where travelers could eat, as well as a barn to change horses and take care of them. This also includes the fountain on the driveway to the street, which served as a horse trough and to which a raven sculpture was added in 1905, which is why it is also known as the "raven fountain". From 1828, Linzenshäuschen was also given the function of a customs office to collect the road tolls introduced at the time, as well as the milling and slaughter tax, with the road leading past being interrupted by Grindel (barriers) for this purpose.
