The trail starts on narrow paths behind the lock house at the sign. It shows the situation along the Rhine in the Upper Rhine Plain in its original form. The Altrhein, the jungle-like riparian forests with their own plants and animals lead us into a now strange world of origin. The ascent to the high towers shows us the edge of the bed of the unbridled Rhine. The dry stream of the Sollach is another result of human intervention.
