Market Square in Katowice (former Friedrichsplatz, Ring) - the city square located in the center of Katowice. It is one of the main squares of Śródmieście to which they lead: ul. 3 Maja, ul. Warszawska, ul. Staromiejska, ul. Teatralna, ul. Adama Mickiewicza, ul. st. Jana, ul. Pocztowa, ul. Młyńska and aleja Wojciech Korfantego.
Buildings at the square were built from the mid-nineteenth century. In the years of the Polish People's Republic, some historic tenement houses were demolished so that modern service facilities could be built here. A characteristic feature of the market is the network of tram tracks crossing the market in several directions. There are three squares within the market square: Kwiatowy, Teatralny and Obrońców Katowic. In 2016, the entire market was put into use after a thorough reconstruction.
In the second half of the 16th century, near the former forging pond, at the corner of today's Market Square and ul. st. Jana, there was a local communication junction. At this point, routes in four directions met: the road to Mikołów - now Młyńska Street and Mikołowska Street - to the south-east, and the road to Brynów - currently ul. st. Jana, ul. Jana Kochanowskiego and ul. Wita Stwosza, to the east - the road to Szopienice and Mysłowice (ul. Warszawska), and to the north - the road to the northern part of the center of Bogucice (next to the church - ul. Katowicka) and further to Dąbrówka Mała.
