The small parish church of St. Katharina was formerly the monastery church of the monastery Wenau. So close to the French border, the monastery was repeatedly damaged in military conflicts between Germany and France, until it was dissolved in 1802. The church was then dedicated to the parish church and the monastery building used as a manor.
The parish church is a station on the Rhenish Way of St. James on the way to Santiago de Compostela.

The bumblebees buzzed in the small cemetery and a first butterfly (Little Fox) fluttered. The sight of the monastery buildings and the church with the magnolia is delightful and soothing. (Unfortunately, you can hear the street noise.) Hiking tip: Unfortunately, you cannot walk through the residential complex and the farm to the avenue that leads from the Wehebach Bridge to the courtyard.
