    The garden at Groeningestraat 17 is part of a large 19th-century mansion. It was built by the Benoit family, who became rich with the production of linen and lace. Today the mansion is magnificent as it was once and houses a hotel. You can also visit the garden without staying at the hotel.

    It is romantically laid out in English style with pathways, sloping lawns and surprising viewpoints. You will find many different types of trees and shrubs, such as lime, beech and walnut, sweet chestnut, ash and maple. Bushy rhododendrons, hydrangeas and peonies create an intimate atmosphere. In the garden there is also a neo-Gothic pavilion, which is a listed monument, but the showpiece is an original pond with a decorative cast-iron bridge.

        You can discover this city garden via an underpass of the hotel Messeyne or via the Guido Gezellepad. The garden belonged to a large 19th-century mansion. The showpieces of the garden are the whimsical pond with a decorative cast iron bridge. Garden Messeyne provides green relaxation and breathing space.
