At 2,618 meters, the Greifenberg is one of the highest peaks in the Schladminger Tauern and the highlight of the traverse from the Preintaler to the Golling Hütte. The ascent from the Klafferkesseln becomes increasingly steep - at about 2,500 meters a steep and impassable descent to the Zwerfenbergsee branches off to the south. The final climb to the summit is rope secured and somewhat exposed. The deep views into the Klafferkessel are impressive.

The descent to the Gollinghütte starts off easy, but becomes increasingly steeper after the Greifenbergscharte and the Sattelsee and includes a few secured spots where you can grab a steel cable when it's wet.

Good bye,
the view from the Greifenberg is fantastic and the efforts to climb from the Gollinghütte are rewarded here. The view of the Klafferkessel is beautiful, as is the entire panorama from up here.
