Ritterstein 252 ring wall - mountain fortress - Hallstatt period - Middle Ages - 400 Schr
The Ritterstein refers to an extensive area in which, as the name suggests, there is a ring wall / mountain fortress and a burial ground from the Hallstatt period. However, former living caves in the sandstone can still be found here. A ring wall is a ring wall made of stones, rubble and wood. The Ritterstein stands on the Königsberg near Neustadt.

The knight stone cultivated by the Palatine Forest Association was erected on the crest of the Königsberg, as here was an extensive burial ground and a ring wall. This comes from the Hallstatt period, which dates back to about 800 BC. Begins and is called pre-Roman Iron Age.
