At an altitude of 2,357 m, the Estanys de la Pera refuge is located on the southern slope of the Perafita pass, next to the Pera lakes. The facility, inaugurated in 1957, is a crossing point for the GR 11.10, one of the variants of the great trans-Pyrenean trail par excellence, which connects Cerdanya with the Principality of Andorra. The building follows the same architectural pattern as the Sant Jordi and Serra d’Ensija refuges, with one entrance for all three facilities. It is an ideal place for hiking in the summer and ski mountaineering and snowshoeing in the winter, with mostly quite rounded mountain profiles, ideal for practicing this mountain discipline. Summer is an ideal time to go there with children, as access is quite quick and easy.
