13th century: a famous member of the [women's] convent was the mystic Christina von Habe, whose stay we owe the only descriptions of the monastery.
1525: destroyed in the Peasants' War. After reconstruction, increasing loss of importance
1656: destroyed again in the Thirty Years' War. Still used only as a church.
1970s/80s: the Bolanden local history society founded by Karl Obry saves the monastery church
