The Max-Eyth-Lake in Stuttgart-Hofen am Neckar is a recreational area close to the city center with plenty of leisure activities: laze around on the spacious lawns or enjoy a barbecue, go for a walk or pedal boating - there is plenty to do here. The walks around the 600m long lake also invite you to cycling and inline skating - this is only allowed during the week.

In the restaurant, beer garden or on the small, artificially created sandy beach: here can be feasted and relaxed to your heart's content! Something sportier: The boat rental rents pedal, rowing and electric boats, s. miet-ein-boot.de. However, the Max Eyth Lake may only be used for water sports in the summer months - from 01 November to 01 March there is a ban on nature conservation reasons.

For nature lovers: grebes, gray geese, swans, pond and coots, cormorants and gray herons live on a bird sanctuary and on the shores of the lake.

Excursion Tip: On the opposite side of the Keefertal invites you to inline or cycling, walking or walking - and surrounded by vineyards. The Max-Eyth-See-jetty between Keefertal and Max-Eyth-See is popularly called "Golden Gatele" in the vernacular.

History of Max Eyth Lake
The Max Eyth Lake was created by gravel mining in Stuttgart-Hofen. From 1914, the mighty gravel and sand layers were first mined on the Neckar and from 1925/26 in the area of today's Max-Eyth-See. 1934/35, the area was expanded to sports and bathing facilities. The lake was named in 1936 after the engineer and writer Max Eyth (1836 - 1906) - on his 100th birthday. It is divided by a peninsula into two legs. In 1961 the site was put under landscape protection.
