    The Ingleborough summit richly rewards all those who conquer it with a magnificent panoramic view of Whernside, Pen-y-Ghent, Pendle Hill, out into Morecambe Bay and over to the Lakeland hills. It is, quite simply, glorious. At 2,372 feet (723 m) high, Ingleborough is the second-highest mountain in the Yorkshire Dales and is usually the final summit climbed on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge route.

      Great views all around from here on a clear day, just watch the wind as you can take a bit if a battering with the hills unique flat top. Also pay attention to the route you took to the top as getting off the same way if you are not paying attention can be hard work.

Characterised by its eroded and exposed layers of millstone grit, shale, sandstone and stream-swallowing limestone, and home to caves and the remains of Iron Age settlements, an ascent of this icon is an exploration of the history of the Dales’ people and landscape.

                There are amazing views from the summit of Ingleborough. If you're doing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks this is usually the last of the 3 and the ascent is a real slog up! It's definitely worth it though.

                    Some of the best views over Morecambe Bay. It was raining when I was there but still enjoyed it. The weather is unpredictable there so you better take a rain coat.

                          Second Highest of the three peaks
                          A large part of Ingleborough is designated as a "site of specific scientific interest" and a national nature reserve.

                          Ingleborough means "hill fort peak" possibly. The summit plateau is encircled by the remains of a massive stone rampart, containing the foundations of Iron Age huts.

                            Superb hill with interesting ascents from all sides, but sadly a bit of an underwhelming summit in itself. The top is a flat plateau, so despite all the ascent it doesn't feel like you are at the top of a mountain at this point

                                The beautiful looming bulk of Ingleborough needs no introduction. The accessibility of this mountain makes it a popular one. With a myriad of routes that are not too excessive in the height gain class, this is a fantastic hill to do. Having a nice, broad summit helps with the crowds, which incidentally were not to bad today. Being 723 metres high, it easily falls into the UK Nuttall category. I can highly recommend the route up from Selside taking in Park Fell, and Simon Fell. The views of Ingleborough, and Whernside from this route are super nice.
