On the wooden footbridge near the Flootsmühle you are in the middle of the Krickenbecker Seen nature discovery area. The pond is spawning water for frogs, newts and other amphibians and serves as a retreat for many bird species. Whether in the reed belt or in the polluted willows - there is always something to watch in this small natural oasis. The access path is barrier-free without steps and with little slope so that the wooden platform on the water can also be reached by wheelchair. Overall, there are wheelchair-accessible circular routes and six color-coded hiking routes of different lengths in the nature experience area. Information on all offers in the nature experience area can be obtained from the Krickenbecker Seen information center.
It's not far from the jetty to the historic Flootsmühle. The remaining miller's house is not open to the public because it is now used as a private residence. The mill has always been a resting place and place of worship for the pilgrims who move from the Jülich region via the Roman road to Kevelaer. A simple wooden cross on the tree in front of the miller's house indicates this. "...
