    Llanberis is synonymous with Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). It's a popular starting point for some of the easier ways to the roof of Wales. Whether it’s via the Llanberis Path or a ride on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, thousands of people every year head to the village with the summit in their sights.

    Long before it was a draw to tourists and hikers, Llanberis was a slate mining town. The Dinorwig Quarry's slate tips are a stark reminder of the region’s heritage.

    The village is blessed with several good outdoor gear shops and characterful places to eat and drink.

      Once a tiny peasant village, Llanberis grew in the early 1800s, when the workers of the surrounding slate quarries moved in. Today the drowsy village is a popular destination among hikers and mountaineers as the several summits are in reach. There are two narrow gauge railways located in Llanberis. The Llanberis Lake Railway leads arround Llyn Padarn, as the famous Snowdon Mountain Railway brings you up to the highest summit of Wales.

Today the sleepy village is a popular destination for hikers and mountaineers, as numerous peaks are within reach. There are two narrow-gauge railways in Llanberis today. The Llanberis Lake Railway goes around Llyn Padarn and the famous Snowdon Mountain Railway takes you to the highest peak in Wales.

        Llanberis is located directly on Llyn Padarn. There are several good photo spots here. In Llanberis the mountain railway departs for Snowdon. In addition, Llanberis is the starting point for several hikes, especially to the Snowdon, around the Llyn Padarn and the Dinorwic Slate Mine.
