The Manera peak (or Cimon del Cavallo) with its 2,251 meters of altitude is the highest peak in the Cavallo group. Even from the plain around Pordenone it is clearly distinguishable.

From the top you enjoy an incredible panorama of many of the major Dolomite groups. In fact, you can see the altarpieces of San Martino and the Civetta, up to the Julian and Carnic Alps.

Cimon del Cavallo or Cima Manera (2251 m) is the highest elevation of Monte Cavallo, in the Col Nudo-Cavallo Group, a vast and articulated massif, composed of various peaks between which crests and forks are interposed. It is the peak par excellence of the Pordenonesi, distinguishable from any place on the plain.

Monte Cavallo was conquered for the first time in 1726 by two botanists: Giovanni Girolamo Zannichelli and Domenico Pietro Stefanelli. The chronicles of the time tell how, starting from Aviano, they went to the slopes of the mountain riding mules, where they spent time looking for plant species and exploring the area. The ascent is described as "through steep places, often on all fours, passing from the external part of the mountain". In any case, the ascent remains focused on the botanical aspect, without considering an aspect (the mountaineering one) not yet contemplated at the time.
