At the western end of Monmouth Beach in Lyme Regis towards Seven Rock Point and Pinhay Bay you will find a spectacular fossil graveyard known as the Ammonite Pavement. Here the remains of thousands of ammonites, an extinct group of marine mollusks, are embedded in the limestone outcrop.

According to the Natural History Museum, the fossil ledge is unique in the world - nowhere else are there so many large ammonites up to 70 centimetres in diameter.

The only way to get to the Ammonite Pavement is to walk west along Monmouth beach at low tide. You will then come across the limestone outcrop. There is no access from Ware Cliff above.
