The Leine Descent Lock is located within the connecting canal from the Mittelland Canal to the Leine River; it allows access from the level of the MLK to the level of the dammed Leine. Today, the canal is used only by passenger ships and pleasure boats; it formerly served as a connection to the long-vanished factories at the level of today's Ihme Center.
