Église Sainte-Dévote is a Roman Catholic church in the Monegasque district of La Condamine, dedicated to Saint Devota, the patron saint of Monaco.
The church, then still a chapel, was first mentioned in 1070, when the chapel was built against the Vallon des Gaumates. In the 16th century, the chapel was renovated and in the following century it was expanded with, among other things, a portal. The chapel contained stained glass windows from the 19th century, which were destroyed during the Second World War. These windows were restored after the war. In 1887, the chapel was elevated to the status of parish church.
During Formula 1 races in the country, the first bend of the Circuit de Monaco is named after the church. The run-off area of the first bend is an extension of the entrance to the church.

Sainte Dévote, the patron saint of Monaco. Sainte Dévote is an important figure in the religious and cultural history of Monaco, and her feast day is celebrated on 27 January. According to legend, she was a Christian martyr from Corsica, whose body mysteriously washed up in Monaco after her death. The kingdom considers her the patron saint who protects the principality.

The plaque bears an inscription in French commemorating the inauguration of this place on 29 May 1977, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the publication of “A Legenda de Santa Devota” by Lovis Notari (1879-1961), a Monegasque writer. This ceremony took place in the presence of the Félibres, a movement of poets who promote the Provençal language and culture, and was part of the festivities of “La Santo Estello”, a cultural event.

This grotto or statue is part of a wider tradition and tribute to Sainte Dévote in Monaco, where her name is linked to a chapel and other sacred places.

Saint Dévote is a young Christian native of Corsica, martyred under the emperors Diocletian and Maximian, in the year 304. Her body was stolen during the night, by the faithful who wanted her to be buried with dignity, by sending her on a boat to Africa where there was a large Christian community. However, contrary winds led the boat to Monaco. where she was buried as a saint near the harbor.
