To the north of Manskestrasse is the youngest part of the Lehrter Hohnhorstpark, which in the city is only called Stadtpark. It was created on the site on which the Lehrter sugar factory stood until the turn of the millennium. The factory shaped the city center of Lehrte for more than a century - not least because of the sweet smell during the beet campaign in autumn. Many older teachers still miss this smell today.
The two circular rain retention basins are reminiscent of the sugar silos that once stood on the site. On the other side of the adjacent Germaniastrasse is the last Nordzucker AG sugar silo. Liquid sugar is still stored in it.

The core area of the large Lehrter city park is located near the center, not far from the shopping area. The ponds look very artificial but are still nice for a short walk.
