formerly the end of a laborious ox-go, which started in Jutland until the 19th century and ended in HH. Here was the customs office. Some wanted to save the customs and preferred to smuggle the ox past. The former Schmugglerweg is today a shopping street on the Norderstedter side

From the 15th to the 19th century, oxen had to be declared customs at the city limits of Hamburg. Smugglers tried to avoid this customs duty and so today numerous roads in the area are still a reminder of this once important border.
