The Kolonnenweg is part of the inner-German border fortifications on the side of the former GDR. It was made of uniform, very weather-resistant perforated panels (concrete path panels), most of which are covered in plants and are pretty much firmly attached to the ground. In the death strip of the Berlin Wall, the column path was asphalted.
