You are in front of the street that goes up to the citadel. Do not miss to visit this fortress.

This eminently strategic site was an essential place of passage. This impregnable bastion built at the time of Henri 4 was remodeled by Vauban a few centuries later.

From up there you will have a remarkable view of the Durance and the Clue de Sisteron. This geological curiosity is qualified as the gateway to Provence. It notches a rock bar called the Rocher de la Baume which dates from the Upper Jurassic. The deformation of this sedimentary rock is particularly impressive here. It is due to the formation of the Alps 70 million years ago.
