The Löptener Dreieck is centrally located between the towns of Groß Köris, Klein Köris and Löpten and borders on the nature reserve "Löptener Fenne-Wustrickwiesen"
The nearly 220-hectare FFH area Löptener Fenne and Wustrickwiesen corresponds in its delimitation to the NSG of the same name. It is located between the towns of Groß-Köris, Löpten and Klein Köris. Within a valley sand plain, it is a low moor area that drains north into the Großer Moddersee.
Central components of the protection area are eutrophic residual lakes that have silted up, extensive silted-up bogs with extensive reed beds and broken forests, as well as the near-natural running water sections of the Wustrickgraben. Basic bog areas occur within the wood-free areas. In addition to alder cracks, there are peat moss-moor birch forest formations within the fracture areas. The extensive reed zones are characterized by reeds. The near-natural river sections are lined with swamp forest over large areas. In the north, areas of the eutrophic Moddersee are included in the protected area. Extensively used wet meadows and pastures as well as dry grassland and heath fringes are located on the outskirts of the protected area.
The FFH area is part of several EU Life projects. As part of the Limestone Moore Brandenburg project, the area water conditions in the area of the Löptener Fennen were sustainably improved. Signposted hiking trails and the “Hofjagdweg” lead through the area.
