Visit this small grove on the steep coast on a beautiful July day in the early evening hours. Then when the sun bathes the trees and the grass on the ground in golden light. If the day was stormy as it is today, then everything vibrates: the leaves, the grass, the tender shoots of the horsetail. Accompanied by the roar of the waves. Sitting in the grass under the trees, one begins to feel intensely those elements which so strongly shape this place where the trees survive. The water, the waves, the spray, which eat more and more into the cliffs and dig the ground from the trees under the feet. And then the hostile wind. The survival limit is clearly visible. When facing the wind, the smaller bushes and trees allow the larger beeches to develop further inland without being disturbed. If this protection is missing, the big trees die. And yet there is peace in this grove on such a sunny July evening, even when leaves and grasses shimmer in the wind and nothing seems to last.

If you have read Wohlleben's book about the secret life of trees, this is the place and time at which you will be convinced that trees can communicate with each other and that this grove may behave like a whole, unified community and assert itself against the elements . Then maybe the time has come to approach one of the large beech trees and look down the trunk into the crown. Finally, you can politely ask the tree for permission to hug it on this peaceful evening. Then you close your eyes, put your forehead on the trunk and wait until you are pulled up into the crown. Perhaps the tree will then also tell a story about the last winter storms or the last spring.
