"... The blue ribbon between the Emscher Klärpark and Vondern Castle reaches a peculiar landscape behind the Ripshorstbrücke. Wide, wild meadows, interrupted by hilly forests and strange art objects until 1932 and soon a coking plant was added. It is very likely that an approximately four meter high elevation about 500 meters east of the old railway bridge still represents the remainder of a small mine dump with the comparison between the past and the present, where the extensive colliery and track systems are now drowning in the grassland.

The world economic crisis at the end of the 1920s brought the company to an end. Previously this was arable and pasture land, which was cut through by the Emscher River, which at the time was still unpaved. After the facilities were demolished, the site was largely left to its own devices and was partially built over only by the A42 motorway in the north, which was built in the 1970s. During the crossing, numerous art objects catch the eye. The most conspicuous are the red step tower in the far west of Hartwig Kompa or the "fallow throne" by Will Brands with the assistance of citizens or local residents collected finds from the colliery, which are presented along the way. The repopulation of the area by nature is particularly impressive. Not only the post-industrial birch vegetation has expanded. Wild crops in the meadow, orchids and not to forget all the songbirds, toads and spiders. ... "
