Once a simple fire on the beach led the fishermen safely to the coast. Around 1805 the fire was replaced by a stone building with an observation post and a fire pot. From this the Feuerbake developed to the lighthouse, as we can still visit it today in Scheveningen. 432 cast-iron plates and 4600 screws hold the colossal tower together.
