The station was opened in 1895 together with the Saar line from Trier to Saarbrücken.
The station building of Konz was built towards the end of the 19th century. It is a testimony to the industrial and railway culture. At the time, as a railway junction, Konz was one of the cities in Germany where a large part of the population lived from the railway.

Contionacum was the name of a late Roman imperial villa (the Imperial Villa of Konz), the remains of which have been excavated and which is also mentioned in ancient sources. The Battle of the Konz Bridge, fought near Konz on August 11, 1675 during the Dutch War, was of particular historical importance. In this battle, imperial troops led by General Grana defeated an army of Louis XIV under Marshal François de Bonne de Créqui. In memory of this battle, the Grana Monument was erected in 1892 on the Granahöhe, a low rock terrace on the edge of the battlefield not far from the Konz Bridge.
