In the years that followed, the colliery site was transformed into the new city district of Annapark with new business, residential and commercial areas. The only reminders of Alsdorf's mining history are the tailings heaps, a headframe left standing as a monument and some operational buildings, some of which are listed. Leisure facilities (such as the central Annapark), residential areas, an industrial park and a shopping center are now located on a large part of the former mine site. Social facilities such as a day-care center, an elementary school and a facility belonging to the Vinzenz Home in Aachen were also established.[23]

In the meantime, the Annapark bus stop has taken over the function of a central bus station for Alsdorf. The AVV bus lines 28, 29, 51, 69, 89, 90, 151 and 433 as well as the city bus lines AL1, AL2, AL3 and AL5 operate from here. Before that, the stop at Denkmalplatz was the central transfer point.
