Here you can find the Hungarian steppe cattle and the Przewalski horses.

The Przewalski horses used to be housed in another pen near the farm. But now you can find them at the outer end of the park, still near the farm in the direction of the ibexes.

There are also Hungarian steppe cattle, which are also relatively new to the Sababurg Zoo.

In the wild:
"The large and slender-looking cattle reach a shoulder height of 1.38 - 1.48 m and weigh 600 - 950 kg. The appearance of the steppe cattle is adapted to their natural habitat, the sunny steppe: They have a blue-black skin to protect against UV rays - Radiation and a light-colored coat that better reflects the sun's rays. The original longhorn cattle dates back to the 14th and 15th centuries. It was created by crossing with domesticated small shorthorn cattle and the wild Urrinde living in Hungary. That was from the 14th century Hungarian steppe cattle with its meat production and traction for centuries the market leader in Europe. The cattle probably got their current appearance in the 18th/19th century. After a gestation period of about 9 months, the calves are born in spring and early summer. Hungarian steppe cattle used to be known throughout Eastern Europe as They were kept as pets. They provided milk, meat and were also used as working animals. Today they are one of the endangered breeds of domestic animals and are only rarely kept economically. During communism these cattle almost died out: in 1970 there were only 300 cows left!"
