Archaeologists have uncovered a 12th-century Romanesque crypt under the central choir.

The 12th century Saint-Brice church is unfortunately located a few hundred meters from Tournai train station and was therefore subjected to terrible bombings in 1940-1945. Reconstruction was completed in 1954. The building is predominantly Romanesque, partially Gothic, covered with old-style red flat tiles. Outside, we notice the 15th century square tower, followed by a nave and a transept crowned with a second tower. The interior gives a nice impression of space, meditation and luminosity favored by quality lighting. We will notice the choir which has the shape of a triple hall (hallekirche), the wooden ceiling and some pieces of furniture such as large chandeliers, the old statues of saints or those in stone of more recent invoice due to the Tournaisian artist. Certainly worth mentioning is the uncovering of a 12th-century Romanesque crypt. The choir was built during the 13th and 14th centuries. The sculptor Georges hard made the main altar. the church tower still served as a belfry on the right bank of the Scheldt.
