The Hühnermarkt is a small square located directly next to the town hall and the Couven Museum. Its landmark is the Hühnerdieb fountain, created in 1913 by the sculptor Hermann Joachim Pagels. It depicts a boy trying to steal a chicken but accidentally catching a rooster, who betrays him with his loud crowing. The original was lost during World War II, but was recast and reinstalled in 1953.
