In addition to the older shafts 1 (1847-52) and 2 (1913-18), shaft 3 was built on the shaft site on Langenberger Strasse in 1957-58. After the mine was closed in 1968, shaft 3 remained in operation for water management purposes. The headframe received a new hoisting machine house in 1973. The headframe from 1958 is a two-storey strut frame in solid wall construction. The upper and lower pulley platforms are connected to each other in a box-like manner, with the connecting styles opposite the struts between the pulley platforms arranged at an angle, resulting in a trapezoidal side view of this box-shaped element. Above the upper pulley platform rises an attachment for the crane runway with a flagpole. The lower pulley platform is supported on the guide frame by means of joints, similar to the "Dörnen design".

The headframe, which stands not far from the Ruhr, has a landscape-defining effect far into the Ruhr valley.

History (Shaft 3):
1957 Sinking begins as shaft 3 of the Heinrich mine.
1958 The shaft begins production.
1968 The Heinrich mine is closed. The shaft remains open for water management.

"... The Heinrich 1/2/3 mine was built directly on the Ruhr in 1847. The operating area was not very large, as the coal mined was not suitable for coke production and only briquettes were produced. In addition to the shafts at this location, there were two ventilation shafts in the nearby Deipenbecktal. No traces of them have survived. The same applies to some of the surface mines.

Today, almost all of the mine buildings have disappeared. One hall is used commercially. In the area of shaft 2, a senior citizens' housing complex with a small park was built at the site of the mine power plant. Shaft 3 is still open and is part of RAG's central water management system. Around 2500 m³ are pumped every hour. Apart from a slightly increased iron content, the water is of such good quality that the city of Essen classified it as a drinking water reserve (in the event of a disaster).
