Grafenegg Castle
The castle is rich in historical evidence and its origins date back to 1435. From then on, it underwent several metamorphoses over the centuries until it finally became the Tudor-style castle that we see today. Count Breuner-Eckevoirt, a lover of architecture, had the Renaissance castle rebuilt in the 19th century in the style of romantic historicism. Today, the castle is owned by the Metternich-Sándor family, who have restored the castle with the support of the state of Lower Austria.

700 years ago the mill at Kamp rattled, the first settlement on Grafenegger soil. Three generations later there was already a fortified courtyard with a ring wall and a moat, and a few decades later the family from which it still bears its name took over the property: Ulrich von Grafeneck was only the owner for a short time, before a checkered succession of owners involved conversions and extensions brought with it, from which the history of centuries can be read. August Ferdinand Graf Breuner-Enckevoirth (1796-1877) built Grafenegg Castle in its present form. After the deferral from the Soviet administration, the renovation of the damaged building began. Since 1971, the resurrected Grafenegg has also been a cultural meeting place - and the 21st century begins with a further expansion phase of the most important palace complex of romantic historicism in Austria.
