The Grote Markt is the beating heart of the historic city centre.
Every year it is the stage for the 'Combat dit Lumeçon', or the legendary battle of Saint George against the dragon.
The Grote Markt offers an exceptional overview of architecture from the 15th century to the present day.

Good to know: The facade of the so-called «au Blan Levrie» building illustrates the care with which the city has managed to reconcile old and new. A bank office is located in the building, but on the inside it is mainly the remains of the former ramparts that attract the attention.
