A stunningly beautiful lake, surrounded by several two- and three-thousand-meter peaks. The relatively easy climb makes this destination worthwhile for the whole family. Sturdy footwear is recommended. Restaurants and boat rentals are also available.

On hot summer days very populated, as from Kandersteg a gondola goes up. Starting point for high alpine tours, which are really something for sure-footed and height-anxious hikers something. In contrast, there are easier circular walks, which are just busy. Therefore rather low season - if you do not want to swim.
The Oeschinensee is about 1.6 km long and at the deepest point is 56 meters. It flows underground into the Oeschibach.

Be sure to hike the early spring line. But please only in suitable equipment. Sturdy mountain boots and a head for heights are a must.
