Built in 1090 by Norman baron Robert de Romille, Skipton Castle is a grade I-listed fortress that towers above the high street.

It was famously the home of the Cliffords from 1310 onwards and it was Lady Anne Clifford who, in the 1600s, oversaw a major renovation. A long-distance trail in her honour, Lady Anne's Way, starts at Skipton Castle and journeys 100 miles (161 km) to the Eden Valley.

My first visit after cycling by numerous times.
Skipton Castle is a medieval castle in Skipton, North Yorkshire, England. It was built in 1090 by Robert de Romille, a Norman baron, and has been preserved for over 900 years
Well worth a visit I am certainly pleased I did.
Café within the grounds and the staff are brilliant.
They have a place for bikes but no proper bike facilities to lock bikes - well it is medieval!

A medieval castle right in the centre of town, Skipton Castle is open daily for visits but there is an admission fee. Inside there is a cafe and a shop too.

Skipton itself is fascinating. It's a really lively town with a lot going on, including cafes and pubs.

Skipton Castle is open daily from 10am (Sunday from 11am). Last admission is at 5pm (October - March 4pm). Closed 23rd, 24th & 25th December

Adults: £8.70
Children (5-17): £5.50
Children under 5: free
Over 60s and students: £7.70
Family Ticket for two adults and up to 3 children over 5: £28.50 (saves up to £5.40).
Guides are available for pre-booked parties at no extra cost (reduced rate of £7.40 per head for adult parties of 15 or more).
