Castle Church of St. Romanus
After the floods of the Bietschbach in 1414 and 1494, the village church below "on the Biel" was so damaged that in 1505, under the decisive influence of the then bishop and later cardinal Matthäus Schiner, it was decided to build the new church on top of the castle hill. The architect Ulrich Ruffiner from Prismell built the new parish church around the old hall, the "nova turris", between 1512 and 1518. The last restoration took place in 1970 - 1972. Its financing was provided by LONZA AG on the occasion of its 75th anniversary, the federal government and the canton of Valais.
