The Wadden Sea is a bit "intangible" for many, as it is apparently just brown-gray, muddy and maybe a little boring? However, the connections between the sensitive "Wadden Sea" ecosystem can be seen particularly well on a mudflat hike on Römö.
A guided tour creates understanding and aha experiences and is definitely recommended.
The Wadden Sea offers a unique habitat for microorganisms and is also the pantry for millions of migratory birds and numerous native bird species. The water level on Römö fluctuates around 1.8 m and large parts of the sea dry out twice a day. Around 1 billion (1,000 million) cubic meters of water (volume of around 1,650,000 swimming pools) flow through the lows.

UNESCO has now also named the Danish part of the Wadden Sea a World Heritage Site, thereby placing a special focus on the preservation and protection of the Wadden Sea. The Wadden Sea is a bit "intangible" for many, as it is apparently just brown-gray, muddy and maybe a little boring?
At low tide you can hike the mudflats and find and identify the most amazing small animals. The general understanding of the algae-clams / crayfish-birds / fish food chain becomes very clear. The ecosystem in the Wadden Sea is highly sensitive.
