Volland's Rock is a quiet, charming spot in the middle of the forest—a small rock with a memorial plaque that invites you to pause and reflect. Surrounded by trees and birdsong, it lies directly on the Herbert Roth hiking trail, not far from the Ottilien Chapel. Those passing by here sense the tranquility of the forest and the charm of an almost forgotten place, yet steeped in history.

The Volland's rock is located just before the Ottilien chapel. A memorial plaque is attached to the rock.

"That's how it sounds in the mountains" is just one of Herbert Roth's probably 300 titles.
He was the folk musician of the region par excellence.
His most famous song is the "Rennsteiglied".
Suhl was the hometown of the composer and he was very close to his homeland and nature, just like his music.
Hiking on the Herbert-Roth-Wanderweg, the Suhler Panoramaweg, is an experience in every season.
Changing landscapes, fresh forest air, wonderful views of the city of Suhl and the surrounding mountains make up its special charm.
With constantly changing ascents and descents, even hikers who are spoiled for heights will be challenged here.
