It initially functioned as a corn and barley mill and was also equipped as a pel mill for hulling barley. For nearly 70 years, it was owned and operated by the Broekema family, earning it the local name 'De molen van Broekema'. It is recognized as a Rijksmonument (national heritage site) with registration number 13186, highlighting its importance to Dutch industrial heritage.
