The Koning Willem-Alexander Canal or Veenkanaal is a waterway connection with a length of six kilometers between the Scholtenskanaal near Klazienaveen and the Bladderswijk near Oranjedorp. The new canal through the Hondsrug is part of the Veenvaart project. The difference in height in the area through which the Koning Willem Alexander Canal was dug is 6 meters and that made the construction of 2 special locks necessary, namely the Spaarsluis at Oranjedorp and the Koppelsluis at Klazienaveen. The Koppelsluis is located in the Oosterbos near Klazienaveen.

The King Willem-Alexander Canal (Dutch: Koning Willem-Alexanderkanaal), named after King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, is a 6 km long canal in the northeast of the Netherlands. The new canal through the Hondsrug is part of the larger Veenvaart project to attract more recreational boaters and tourists to the Veenkoloniën region in the provinces of Drenthe and Groningen.

The canal was originally to be called Veenkanaal, but was renamed on 8 June 2013 in honour of the recently enthroned King Willem-Alexander.
