The patrol path runs here over a longer section in hilly terrain.
Here you have the option of taking the patrol path to the P12 Mainzer Heads premium hiking trail or a beautiful circular hike (approx. 5 km) from the Drei-Kreise-Eck hiking car park (road in the direction of Wendehausen) with the agent sluice directly on the patrol path (signposted from the car park) and Include Blue Lagoon.

The Kolonnenweg is part of the inner-German border installations on the part of the former GDR. It's made from unitary perforated panels, very weather resistant, mostly planted through and fairly firmly attached to the ground.
The control strip and the border fence were still between the patrol route and the actual border.
