The Westensee in Neuallermöhe is not an official bathing water!
With the Allermöher See and the Westensee, Neuallermöhe has two lakes. The Allermöher See is equipped with beautiful sandy beaches and spacious lawns. Only the Allermöher See is an official bathing water and is supervised by a guard station on weekends during the bathing season. Even in midsummer there is still enough space for swimming and sunbathing. If that's not enough, there are other nearby bathing opportunities in the Hinterm Horn and Boberger See lakes.

To avoid confusion in the first place. The Westensee is the relatively "young" body of water, the Westensee in Neu-Allermöhe-West.
The lake was created in the late 1980s. Sand was needed for the expansion of the Neu-Allermöhe-West development area. So what could be closer to creating a lake here. The excavated sand was used to raise the building area by about 2 meters.
A beautiful circular path leads around the lake, just right for a short hike through nature.
The lake has a water surface of 8.5 ha. The depth of the lake is about 11 meters.
